Three generations of one family built and have occupied this modern house for 38 summers. The oaks and pines have grown up in those years so that the bay view is now from the roof-level deck rather than from the second floor living area, as was the case when it was built. It was designed by an architect who is a friend of the family, and the same architect designed the addition made when it was completely renovated in 2005-6. Many large windows light the living room, dining area, cook's kitchen and study on the second floor, and there are three bedrooms on the first floor: a master bedroom with large closets and connected bath, and two smaller bedrooms which share a hall bath. There is a sunny private outdoor shower just outside the master bath. The second floor features a large deck with a spiral stair connecting to the third-floor deck. The floors are blond oak upstairs and ceramic tile on the first floor. There is a wood-burning stove in the living room. The central heat is propane-fueled, and AC was installed two years ago. Most of the nearly one acre lot is wild, but a large vegetable garden includes established asparagus, rhubarb and raspberry beds and is adjacent to a garden shed with electricity and a workbench. A flower garden and smaller vegetable and herb garden near the house are edged with New Hampshire granite and include trellises made from Truro driftwood. Productive low-, medium- and high-bush blueberry bushes yield gallons of fruit and two young sour cherry trees are also starting to produce. Giant rhododendrons along the front of the house were planted when the house was built. All of the plantings near the house are on drip irrigation. The house is on a paved road that is well maintained by a private homeowners' association in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance of Great Hollow beach.
