Forgetaboutit-If you're looking for just another Luxury home next to the national forest served by a paved road, perhaps even controlled by a restrictive HOA, forget about it. The Retreat on Tonto Creek is just that. It is near Payson but remote. The 100 or so residents of Bear Flat like it that way. The last six miles once you turn off highway 260, is a U.S. Forest Service Trail #405A dirt road. You'll pass campgrounds and pine forests. You may see elk or deer, probably open range cattle, and then, the last mile and a half you round two mountains which seem halfway to heaven with no guard rails. No one has ever gone over the side but you are aware of the possibility.
