Bay Area home buyers know firsthand the horrors of trying to buy a home in a hot market. Listed home prices are usually just a jumping-off point, and buyers often find themselves competing against numerous other buyers offering far more than the list price.

Here at Estately, we were curious to see how common bidding wars are in cities¬†across the country. To do this we analyzed January sold data from 25 different cities. The results varied widely, but if you’re a frustrated Bay Area home shopper looking to avoid another bidding war you will find some alternatives if you’re willing to move to another city.
