Henry Ledyard Sr. (1812-1880) built this carriage house in 1863 for the Cloverleigh Estate which sits next door at 44 Catherine Street. Born in NYC, Ledyard became influential in both Detroit, MI and Newport, RI. He was the Founder of Newport Hospital and President of The Redwood Library. George Champlin Mason (1820-1894) was the chosen architect for this mansard roof building.
